I was on the streets for over 11 years before Suubi House picked me up in 2020 and gave me a chance to have a future for myself. I used to be a drunkard and a thief but have completely changed my life over the last two years. I now own my own barbershop, pay for my own rent in town and am responsible for my own financial management. I love children and hope to get married in the next few years. Suubi House has changed my life and I will forever be thankful for my sponsor who has given me hope and purpose again!
I grew up with my grandmother and without parents. When she could not support me anymore I decided to beg on the streets. I used to take drugs and steal, but still cared for those close to me. When COVID came in 2019, Suubi House offered me a chance to change my life. I told them I loved cooking and making food for other people and so they started me on an internship with a local international restaurant (Endiro). Over the last two years I have worked hard to remain clean off drugs and become responsible around the home. Because they trust me so much at Endiro, in January 2022, I was offered a full time job. I now live in a small rented apartment near town, have a great job, National ID, bank account and stable income. My sponsors have supported me with all of this and I feel truly blessed to be one of the lucky ones here out of all those struggling in Mbale!
